Marisa Jean Giachetti (@chronicallymissyg) is a firecracker of a human being. Marisa identifies as a musical zebra 🦓♿ and a chronically ill person. She battles hEDS, dysautonomia, gastroparesis, and just recently became an ileostomy patient. She is an aspiring RN and patient advocate.
Nicole Kohr met Marisa during auditions for the “Fall Risk The Musical” staged reading back in 2020. Marisa’s cover letter read: “Hello there, My name is Marisa and I am a chronically ill fierce Ehlers Danlos, Gastroparesis and POTS warrior. As a musical theater lover, singer, and performer, as well as professional patient who has worn the yellow fall risk band too many times to count, I am extremely interested in being a part of this project. The name really spoke to me! Although I don’t have CF, I have come to know some CFers in the chronic illness community. Along my crazy health journey, I have been on the hunt for projects that spark joy for me and this sounds like something that resonates with my passion for creating awareness and inclusivity.”
Marisa’s audition and resume were equally passionate, so she was brought on as an ensemble member. The plan was for the show to premiere live on stage at Villagers Theatre in Somerset, New Jersey. When Covid-19 put the world on pause, the creative team moved the production online. This was a blessing in disguise for patients like Marisa and Nicole because they could participate in the show from the safety of their home.
