Surprise! We’re officially foster parents!
My husband and I are officially licensed foster parents! (And my mom is licensed to because she’s another adult in the house!) The three of us took 10 weeks’ worth of foster classes with Craven County DSS throughout the months of August, September and October. They were 3 hours each. The binder of homework and information is over 1 foot thick. And that wasn’t even the half of it. There were many steps that we needed to take to become licensed. I’ll elaborate in future posts. Since graduating, we’ve had the honor and pleasure of caring for several children. Most of these children were respite placements, meaning short term placements. We cared for Baby D, Toddler K, Teenager M, and Teenager W. We also babysat for baby A. As of Wednesday, January 25, we were given our first long term foster placement. We are officially the foster parents of a 4 year old girl… Toddler L. Pictures and blogs coming soon.
